“The Swansea based duo of Laura Benjamin and Marcus Gumms are already making waves with their diverse and dynamic sound that is beginning to put Hawthorn Avenue firmly onto the map”
"It will not be long before Hawthorn Avenue are the most sought after country act on this side of the Atlantic!”- Jamie Gardam (Think Country)
“If you like The Shires, I think you're gonna love them” – Jason Mohammed, (BBC R2)
“As rich, alluring and American-flavoured as a good bourbon” –
Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales
Fresh on the scene, and hailing from South Wales, duo Hawthorn Avenue has already made a splash on the UK country scene with support from BBC Radio 2, Baylen Leonard and Chris Country. Their debut single Wildfire was on the BBC Radio Wales A-list for 4 weeks running, and they have sold out prestigious music venues in both Swansea and Cardiff.
Having met in Swansea and drawn together by their joint love of country music, Marcus Gumms and Laura Benjamin made their debut at Wales’ answer to Downtown Nashville’s’ Honky Tonk Bars, The Bucket List. 12 months on, the pair have released their debut EP, also named Wildfire, and performed up and down the country.
Influenced by both the country and classic rock scene, the duo count Fleetwood Mac, The Wandering Hearts and Striking Matches amongst their many influences. This is clear in their debut, combined with an air of authenticity and freshness.
